Managers of Library Operations - November 2014

Open Discussion
Follow-up (from October Meeting) – Kay Bauman

Paperbacks
Kay shared information regarding paperbacks becoming reservable.  She indicated that the original intent of the uncataloged paperback was to have a browsing collection inside of the library and there were fewer funds available to purchase them.  Additionally, many were gifts.  Carl X was unable to accommodate the uncataloged paperbacks so we now do minimum cataloging, Karen calls them ‘minicats’.  Following the original intent of the collection they are not reservable.

Manager of Library Operations - October 2014

Customer Appreciation Month

The managers discussed the candy and pens give-a-ways during Customer Appreciation Month.  The managers stated candy was all given out and there are pens still available.  They expressed that the customers seemed really happy receiving the give-a-ways.

Schedule Anywhere

Denyvetta reminded everyone the November schedule should be entered utilizing Schedule Anywhere.

Melody-ED, shared that some of the explanations in Schedule Anywhere were deleted and because this is a shared file, she asked the managers to not change any of the explanations.

ILS: Things We Learned Week 5

Things seem to be humming right along and yet we are still discovering some aspects that needed closer attention.  Here are some things you should know:

Materials Services Division Updates for September 2014

The regular meeting being cancelled, the Materials Services Managers provided updates of departmental activities in lieu of minutes.

Manager of Library Operations - June 2014

Anne distributed “Permissions for New ILS” sheet and a “Terminology Explanations” list for various roles.  She is working on a permissions book for the various role assignments.  The managers were asked to complete the “Permissions for New ILS” sheet by marking which box staff members should have access to and return the sheet to Anne as soon as possible.  If any other roles are needed the managers are encouraged to contact Anne and she will be happy to add another column.

Anne provided some some information on key differences between our new ILS and the existing system.

Materials Services Division Carl.X Issues/Decisions

Managers had been asked to submit a list of questions prior to the meeting.  Some of the questions were discussed and decisions made; other issues are still pending. Karen announced that she would like to discuss any issues involving multiple departments first.
