Employee Assistance Program

Effective January 1, 2017, the Metropolitan Library System is pleased to announce a new vendor for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).  ComPsych is the largest provider of employee assistance programs in the world, serving more than 31,000 organizations and covering 82 million individuals throughout the United States and more than 130 countries. This benefit is available to all employees.

What is the Employee Assistance Program?

EAP helps employees find solutions to such issues as:

  • Parenting/family concerns
  • Emotional stress
  • Alcohol and drug problems
  • Job related issues
  • Other problems

Who provides EAP services?

ComPsych is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with GuidanceConsultants who have master's degrees in counseling, social work or other related behavioral areas. They have broad-based clinical skills and experience in assessing and counseling a variety of issues, such as alcohol/drug abuse, suicide, emergency responses and work-life concerns. They have at least three years of experience and training to provide support and facilitate immediate assistance in emergencies.  They also handle requests for counseling, family or personal convenience needs, legal information or financial information. All callers are greeted immediately by a ComPsych GuidanceConsultant—never an answering machine or automated telephone system.
