Leave (Full-time employment) (Prorated for less than full-time leave earning employees)

Annual Vacation

  • 1 - 5 years of service earn 12 days per year
  • 6 - 10 years of service earn 15 days per year
  • 11 - 15 years of service earn 20 days per year
  • 16 - up years of service earn 25 days per year

Bereavement

Up to 5 days for immediate family member (spouse, employee's / or spouse's children, adopted children, full or step-siblings, natural or foster parents, natural or foster grandparents, grandchildren including step-grandchilren, wards or guardians)

Bonus Vacation Days

0 - 24 sick hours used, 2 AVL Bonus Days next year
25 - 48 sick hours used, 1 AVL Bonus Day next year

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

12 weeks or less, return to same or equivalent job; employee must have worked for at least 12 months and worked at least 1250 hours during the 12 months prior to the start of leave.

Floating Holiday Leave

Eligible after 30 days, paid time off, prorated over the course of the year to a maximum of 16 hours. Employees hired between July 1 and Nov. 30 will get 1 day.

Military

20 days with pay; or per applicable state law if amended

Jury/Court Leave

Full pay for normally scheduled hours during jury duty or as summoned witness.

Sabbatical

Up to 12 months leave without pay to complete MLS degree with return to a position paying no less than before

Sick

8 days per year for illness or injury of employee or immediate family member

Vote

Per applicable state law (currently up to 2 hours) Note: 2 hours allowed only on the designated election day
