Audio-enabled books are coming to MLS libraries!

On April 29, audio-enabled books will be available for checkout at MLS libraries.  You might have heard these items referred to as “Vox books”; Vox is the name of the product produced by Library Ideas.  While all the items currently purchased are Vox, there is no guarantee that future items will also be.

Pests in the Library - Action Plan

The Metropolitan Library System takes all reports of bed bugs seriously. Staff at our libraries inspect every item upon return for condition and routinely inspect our furnishings. We strive to keep our facilities in good condition and maintain an up-to-date collection.

Materials Services Division Updates for October 2014

The regular meeting being cancelled, the Materials Services Managers provided updates of departmental activities in lieu of minutes.

Can customers have 30 items on their card and still check out 30 more if the others were placed in the bookdrop?

No. Our new system will ONLY allow the customer to have 30 items on their card at one time. We will need to educate our customers that if they are near their limit they will want to bring the items they are returning to the circulation desk and have them manually returned so they can complete the next charge successfully.
