REPORTS

Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace announced she is working on the chemical inventory for MSDS. The complete inventory will be available on MyMetroLibrary.

The MLS Safety Manual is almost complete.

Mark your calendars for the annual MLS Staff Recognition taking place Saturday, November 8th at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Candace announced the Hemingway Café (Downtown Library) will open next week. The operation hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Administration / Commission – Donna met with Bryan’s Flooring on Monday, February 17th to discuss the carpet installation plan. More information will be received soon. 
Donna stated there is a Public Services Committee Meeting the week of March 10th; the exact date has not been confirmed at this time.  The committee will review suggested changes to the meeting room and fee schedule policies to prepare for new room reservation software.

The Bylaw Committee meeting is scheduled for March 3rd, 3:30 pm at the Belle Isle Library.

Finance & Support – Lloyd reported there has been a minor change to the mileage policy. Currently, the mileage policy states mileage forms must be turned into the Business Office monthly. Mileage forms will now be submitted quarterly. 

Information Technology – Anne announced the contract with TLC has been signed.

Anne also reported a planning meeting with Evanced to begin using Signup (calendar) and Spaces (room manager).

Development – Diane announced she received an email Sunday night (Feb. 16th) from the Junior League of Oklahoma City giving an unofficial donation notice. They stated in the email they are willing to donate a partial amount ($5,000) of what was originally asked of them, which was $15,000.  Diane stated that she have yet to receive their official notice, but said it’s safe to say that this amount will go towards the Summer Reading program and help advance closer to their $55,000 goal.
 
Diane also reported the Chickasaw Nation’s sponsorship donation of $55,000 towards Literary Voices was received.

Human Resources – Lori announced the recent legislative updates to Affordable Care Act.  For the 2014/15 benefit plan year, there will be no major changes to MLS benefit plans due to healthcare reform. Other HUM duties are running smoothly.

MAC – Out of the Office

Materials & Outreach – Karen stated the Kids eReading Room on our OverDrive site (http://emedia.metrolibrary.org) is doing very well.

The Material & Outreach Department is still working on the preliminary FY 2014-2015 budget items.

Library Operations – Denyvetta reported the manager’s meeting is next week (Feb. 26th) and they’re planning something different this time around. Three library managers: Chris Kennedy – Midwest City Manager, Michael Owens – Ralph Ellison Manager, and Todd Podzemny – Choctaw Manager, are all bakers and will bring their specialty dish to the manager’s meeting. Denyvetta also added that Emily Canniff – Village Library Manager, is a Yoga instructor and will showcase her talents and demonstrate Yoga at the May manager’s meeting.

Denyvetta stated the March 27th manager’s meeting will take place at the Downtown Devon Tower where they are scheduled to take a tour.

Denyvetta closed her portion by reading kudos that was sent to multiple MLS libraries.

Library Operations & Planning – Kay and Stacy are working on training ideas for the 2014 Summer Reading program.

The PIE Group will begin their series of “What will Marian Do?” classes today (Feb. 19th). Kay stated this is a public library philosophy class.

Kay reported the library delivery schedule must be reviewed due to library additions made over the years.  Jon and Kay are working on this matter at this time. There will be more information to come soon.

Kay also stated the Warr Acres Library will close Wednesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 26th for new shelving installation.
