Upon the close of each year's Summer Reading Program, we seek to evaluate our progress over the previous year, as well as to begin preparing for the next. An important component of this process is the Staff Summer Reading Survey, which provides the opportunity to share your unique insights into our ongoing efforts.

Ghouls Gone Wild is Oklahoma City's annual downtown/midtown Halloween parade. In the past, MLS has participated by entering marching groups of zombie librarians, a float of literary character zombies, and a mob of Harry Potters! Beginning on Tuesday, August 14th, all maintenance requests will be handled by a new system called Maintenance Connection. This new system will replace the old maintenance request form under the "Help" tab on the intranet. The following video walks through the process of submitting a maintenance request using Maintenance Connection.

In January 2012, Tech Support received a suggestion on adding a new lookup function to vCirc to show relationships of card holders so spouses or children can easily pick up other people’s reserves. Tech Support drafted a statement to add to the reserve pick-up page that says, “You must check this material out with the card you placed the reserve on” to help with this occurrence. This subject was then discussed at the February and March Managers of Library Operations meeting. Three library manager volunteered to develop scenarios to help educate staff and customers and brought those for discussion at the May Circulation Forum.
Since the topic still continues to surface, we have developed an FAQ for customers and staff. This draft was shared at the July Circ Forum (minutes to be posted soon). Below is the draft of the staff FAQs that includes the feedback provided by the circ clerks. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback or need further explanation.

As many of you already know, June 30, 2012, marked the close of our 2007-2012 Strategic Plan, and in order to gauge the efficacy of our ongoing efforts, baseline and midpoint telephone opinion polls were conducted in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

New to MyMetrolibrary!
- Administrative Toolbar
- Dashboard
- Crafting Closet
When users now log into MyMetrolibrary they will see an administrative toolbar at the top of the site. From there, they can view their account, add new content, view their dashboard, and shopping cart. They also can log out by clicking Log Out in the top right corner. The administrative toolbar offers some great features and can be updated at anytime to add new links or shortcuts for all staff.

Yesterday, the Downtown Library and the Service Center had visitors from the 2012 Matrix Camp. Matrix Camp is a week-long event that provides middle school-aged Oklahomans the opportunity to learn more about libraries and librarians sponsored by the Oklahoma Library Association. I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the success of the Northwest Library grand opening which was held yesterday. From the initial planning of the building several years ago to the unbelievable day we had yesterday, library staff across the system made it happen.
