As LaVetta Dent, Jana Hausburg and Julie Ballou shared at the May 2013 Manager of Library Operations meeting, there is a newly formed committee, convened on an as-need basis at the request of the Deputy Executive Director of Library Operations. The committee’s goal is to assist managers in managing the library resources by reviewing both direct and indirect costs, reviewing current procedures, identifying new approaches and developing tools and guidelines. The name of the committee is PIE (Procedures and Implementation, Evolved).

Safety training for the 2nd quarter has been added as required training for all MLS Employees through the Metro U LMS. This quarter's training consists of two readings and an online course. All trainings should be completed by Friday, June 14.

On Friday, May 3, several roads around the Edmond Library will close. Boulevard from 2nd St to Danforth and 1st Street from Littler to Boulevard will be closed from 10am to 1:30pm to accommodate a walking processional for the funeral of Edmond Firefighter John Werhun at the First Christian Church. Also, because of the Edmond Arts Festival, Broadway will be closed throughout the entire weekend as well as 1st street from Broadway to Littler.
The Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council would like to inform the Metropolitan Library System staff about the great resources available in their Justin A. McCurry Library & Resource Center. With the retirement of Jim Welch, there will be some reorganization within the IT department. Anne Fischer will be assuming the position of Deputy Executive Director of MLS/Technology as of July 1, 2013. While she will retain some of her current duties, she will also be working with vendors as we go through the process of purchasing new ILS software as well as all other software that will be needed and assume the role of administrator for the new software.
John Wood will be adding management of the Physical Security Systems (IP Security cameras), assisting with management of the new software, and will take over the duties of planning the technology replacement cycle which includes budgeting and purchasing of the computers each year. He will also retain all of his current duties.
