Meeting Objectives: 

Physical Improvements – Chris, Curtiss, Kay 

  • Heat and air fix on hold for Ralph Ellison - part still has not arrived to fix
  • Humidity in the DN basement - The City will be fixing the issue

United Way - Heather 

  • Working on a communication plan
  • Brainstorming ways to get staff excited about this year's campaign 

Annual Request for Support of the Friends - Heather 

  • Friends granted the Library funds at their meeting yesterday (Oct. 17)
  • Discussed the possibility of the Friends contributing to a special collection of 20-30 thousand rare items
  • They want us to consider fun projects to approach them about (Heather used the example of  - if a yoga program is popular and it brings members into the library, let's ask the Friends if they can fund more yoga sessions)
  • We will discuss the ideas in 2-3 weeks

Commission - Kay 

  • Calendar of topics and tentative dates of Commission meeting items (handout)
  • Kay proposed she bring the Commission contracts under review before signing them

What is the organization like now? - Kay, Melody, Sarah, Julie, Chris 

  • Directors of Member Services would like to continue an open conversation with staff on terminology used such as access and engagement, triage, members, interreach, and others to provide more clarity to staff 

Moves - Sarah & Morgan 

  • Still working on moving some people and storage so Collection Development can move

Inclement Weather - Kay

  • Cooler weather is coming - we need to remind staff to update their contact info in case we need to send our weather notifications

Pests in the Library - Kay, Curtiss

  • Procedures to get rid of bed bugs are ongoing
  • Oklahoma is top in the country for bed bugs
  • We must continue to follow protocol and take any necessary actions to consider staff and members
  • Pests in the Library on the Intranet

Tax Program - Melody, Julie, Kay, Anne

  • Looking into changing the AARP tax program due to few volunteers and high volume of members wanting to use the service each year, resulting in a negative view of the library. Customers do not realize it is not a library program.
