Friends

On Tuesday, July 16th, the Friends board approved our annual funding request. Our funding request for the Friends this year will occur in three cycles. The first request covered funding totaling $147,500 to support: Summer Reading, Scholarships for Staff, planned Furniture and Upgrades in several locations, and planned activities for Community Engagement.

The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System hope to have a record number of memberships this year! However, we're still in need of a few hundred volunteers to make Booksale 2019 run as smoothly as possible. Staff members are eligible to volunteer (on your own time, of course) and we ask that you please encourage your interested customers to join us as well. Hello Metro Team - posters, bookmarks and an information sheet (as detailed below, and attached) will be sent to library locations the week of January 2, 2019. As the Friends' annual Booksale has become such a popular regional event, we wanted to share the following information with all staff so that you are in the know and are empowered to answer any questions you receive.
