Welcome to February! It’s a busy time of year for libraries as we take part in Black History Month.

This year we’ve made it easy for you to guide a customer to our online African-American databases or to one of the many library events going on this month. Simply visit Metro’s Black History Resource page

Upcoming Access and Engagement Panels and Videos

If you were not able to attend the Access and Engagement Panel in Midwest City, there are more opportunities to attend a panel and discussion at the below times and locations. To supplement this, videos from the panel in Midwest City and conversation starters are also available here for you to review.

ProQuest Product Weekend Maintenance

From 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 to 5:00 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 a ProQuest product maintenance window will launch worldwide to upgrade infrastructure, enhance security, and maintain prodcut reliability.

Search for Literary Magazine Judges

The Downtown Library is hosting the Library Literary Festival on May 12th. Along with workshops, a book fair, and networking opportunities, writers from all over Metropolitan's service area will have the opportunity to be published in our second annual Literary Magazine.

If you'd like to be involved, I am in search of judges to help select the very best submissions for the magazine!

Do you think the Borrowing Policies and Procedures implemented last year satisfied library customers? The Borrowing Policy and Borrowing Procedure Workgroups have created surveys for staff and customers to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes in order to gauge its overall impact.

Database Highlight #27: We've got the Career for That

It’s National Handwriting Analysis Week! Ever considered a handwriting analysis career with the FBI? This week’s database highlight, Career Cruising, is built for anyone looking to go into a career. The database not only includes general career information but job descriptions, working conditions, typical earnings, and interviews with people in the field.

World Almanac for Kids - New and Improved

Today the World Almanac for Kids debuted a new look. Brighter, streamlined, and with updated content, it’s a great database for elementary kids doing reports or exploring an interest. Looks nice on mobile too!
