FREE Shirts for All – Order by Monday 08/14

We are all beaming with pride from our summer reading accomplishments this year, so why not treat the whole system to a free t-shirt?

That’s right, everyone will get a summer reading t-shirt for the system’s teamwork and dedication to achieving our minutes read goal.

The winners of the summer reading challenge announced last week will still get a special prize for their hard work, in addition to a summer reading t-shirt.

Please fill out the WuFoo form below to order your shirt. Orders must be placed by 08/14/17.

Database Highlight #6: We've got the Research Pack for That!

It’s Back to School time! While it might be too early for the kids to start thinking about research, here at Metro it’s all we think about (right?). This week’s database highlight is a four-for-one. SIRS Discoverer is a visually appealing database for grades K-8th.  Covering grades 6 – 12, SIRS Knowledge Source is a collection of three databases.

Brown bag – Don’t make Tim eat lunch alone

If you missed out on the brown bag with Tim today, there will be another one next month! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ask Tim those burning questions, and perhaps more importantly, don’t make him eat lunch alone.

We had a great lunch today with several team members, but if we missed you today, please come join us next month. This is open to all staff, and an on-the-clock event.

Hello, RBDigital / See Ya, Zinio

Starting today, August 2nd, active Zinio app users will receive a message guiding them to download the new RBdigital app. If you are an active Zinio user and do not see the notification, try completely closing the app and relaunching. While the Zinio app will remain active for a time, it will not be supported in any way so it’s important members understand they do need to make the switch sooner rather than later. While inconvenient, there shouldn’t be any serious issues with moving – no magazine downloads will be lost.

Metro Library, the system that was on fire!

Many of you are undoubtedly jumping for joy that we have reached the conclusion of the Summer Reading Program. We managed to not only reach our goal, but surpass it by over 2 million minutes!

Hoopla about Hoopla

It’s almost here! The hoopla launch day is right around the corner – August 14th! Here’s what you need to know to introduce this great new service to our members!

Test Our Updated Research Page

We have updated our Databases & Research page to include full-text & peer reviewed articles search powered by Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS). EDS will allow members to search multiple databases at the same time.   Please look at this update here:  http://www.metrolibrary.org/research-test and share in the comments your thoughts of the new addition and what ideas you have for helping promote this to our members.

Database Highlight #5: We've got the Skill Set for That

This week’s “build a better world” database highlight is Lynda.com. Lynda.com’s comprehensive videos, exercise files, and transcripts will help you develop a variety of skills.
