Libby Updates

Libby recently updated with search enhancements, a refined navigation bar, a new settings menu, and timeline improvements. Please take a minute to watch this 5-minute video that goes over these changes.

Updates Coming to Libby

Libby is getting an upgrade soon with design changes and new features, including smart tagging, wishlist and tag syncing, search improvements, and notifications for the next issue of a magazine.

UPDATE: RBdigital Magazines Now in Libby

Update: Magazines are now available in Libby and OverDrive! Check one out for yourself and see how it works. Take a look at the article view available only in Libby. Tap "Read the Article" at the bottom of the page to get a version of an article in your preferred font size and lighting that's easier to read than zooming in.

Libby Available in 10 Languages

Libby’s user interface now supports 9 additional languages. All of the helpful information and guides (not the ebooks and audiobooks themselves) can be updated to the customer’s native language to simplify their experience. Customers can browse collections, search for specific titles, get help, and more in the following languages:

Overdrive App Phasing Out

Overdrive recently announced their intentions to phase out the Overdrive app. This won’t happen any time soon; there’s no set timeline, but two developmental milestones that will advance the phaseout are adding the ability to import/synchronize wish lists to Libby and making Libby compatible with most accessibility programs and apps.

Macmillan Changes Take Effect November 1

On July 25, the publisher Macmillan announced they would be making changes to their ebook lending terms. Beginning November 1, they will only allow MLS to purchase one copy of a new ebook with additional copies allowed 8 weeks after the title’s release. The anticipated outcomes of this change are longer wait times, frustrated customers, and a decrease in access – all things we strive to avoid.

Friday Could be Your Lucky Day!

During Labor Day weeked if you visit the Overdrive catalog or hop onto Libby, you might find a rare, in-demand ebook or audiobook that lets you skip the hold line. These titles will be available to whomever gets there first. Once they are all checked out the special collection will disappear until a copy is turned back in.

Here are some common questions about the new collection. A pdf is attached if you want to print or save.

How many Lucky Day titles can a customer borrow at one time? 1 title at a time.
