Internal Press Releases

New Mergent Online business sources

With more reference sources available as ebooks/online and in order to make more room for heavier demand items, many of the libraries have been busy weeding their Continuations sections. Several business sections have shrunk but keeping our business priority in mind, we were able to add several of these important (but hefty, expensive, and little used!) sources to Mergent Online. Mergent Online is an Internet-based suite of information resources that enables in-depth business and financial research.

Yesterday’s Intranet Server Update

Thank you to everyone for your patience as we work with our website host to move our hosting environment to a new server.  I’m sad to report the server migration did not go as expected.  Many issues occured during the move that were unexpected and unplanned.  We have reverted the changes and are still on our old server.

We are in communication with our host and will release information as we know more.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Intranet Update - June 4th

In April, we were informed that our current intranet and website provider was conducting updates and migrations to newer hosting software.  Due to our host’s delays, they postponed this project until Sunday, June 4th, 2017.

What to Expect:

Speakaboos Remote Access Restored

Speakaboos remote access has been restored! It is available in-house, remote, and through the app.

Remote Access Issues with Speakaboos

We’re experiencing some problems remotely accessing the web-verison of Speakaboos. Signing up for and using the app appears to be fine, as is in-house web use. The Speakaboos technical team is investigating and hopefully it will be resolved soon! In the meantime, please encourage members to sign up for the app.

Data Requests

Planning & Assessment is implementing an improved process for requesting customized data sets. In an effort to better serve our library members, a standardized data request form is now available via MyMetrolibrary under Departments > Planning > Data Request.

This new workflow is intended to enable more effective queuing, load-balancing, and turn-around times for our department and yours. Please begin using this new workflow at the time of your next request.

Thank you!

Disappearing Databases

Going into the new fiscal year, Collection Anywhere has made some changes to the databases. There will be some replacements, as well as a couple outright cancellations. Read more to see the list:

AP Images has been cut. The reasoning: there are enough quality and authoritative images on the open web.

Approved Beyond The Walls Plan

The Alignment Project Committee approved the Beyond The Walls Plan at the May 11, 2017 meeting.  This plan was prepared by the Beyond The Walls workgroup.

RTL - Total Request Live?

After four months of offering Request to Library (RTL) through Overdrive, it’s fair to say the program is going strong. Stronger than we anticipated! It’s been so popular, we’re still a bit overwhelmed and back ordering carts.  But don’t fear, they will be purchased.

Introducing Speakaboos – the Love to Read App

Collection Anywhere and the Digital Library are proud to be the first library to bring members the Speakaboos app. Brought to you by the mind behind many of PBS’s early childhood series and geared toward children ages 2 – 6, Speakaboos is an early literacy product designed to introduce children to the joy of reading.
