Reports

Development – Donna reported in Diane’s absence:

The Development Department sent emails to 1,265 people this summer.  These individuals signed up for the Summer Reading Program and checked the “Support Your Library” box on their registration form. The emails stated ways to support the library.  Development sent an email last week introducing the ‘Friends of the Library’ which resulted in 3 new ‘Friends’ memberships.

A public art committee has been formed for the Jones Library. They will begin meeting after Labor Day, September 1st.

Human Resources – Kelley Hoffman stated we are in our sixth week of the Move-It Challenge. There are 66 participates in the step challenge for a combined total of 12.9 million steps. There are three weeks remaining in this challenge. The final challenge is related to managing stress and will begin in September. There are 338 staff member participating in the wellness points program this year. Library staff members have acquired over 13,000 points thus far.

Kelley and Elizabeth Kessler will be in training all day tomorrow (July 24th) for Title-7 of the Civil Rights Act.

MAC – Marketing is working on MLS bookmarks to advertise library activities and services.

Marketing is preparing a quick tips sheet for the new MLS catalog.

Marking is also working on new television commercials to promote the library.

Materials & Outreach – Karen announced Dana Morrow’s last day is Friday, August 1, 2014. Dana is retiring after working 35 years for the Metropolitan Library System.

Outreach – Absent

Library Operations – Denyvetta reported there are three library manager positions opening soon. Fellow managers will rotate and help ‘half a day’ to support staff members at libraries in need of managers. Schedules are being arranged accordingly.

Aaron Bluitt is out of the office until further notice.

Library Operations & Planning – Kay reported the ILS Super Trainers completed their training on Monday (July 21st). These trainers are now preparing training manuals; the first training session is tomorrow.

Kay is reviewing language of several MLS policies as they relate to our new ILS. Library card applications are also being updated at this time.

Jon Rollman will email questions to Ad Team members this week for the ODL report, which is due the end of September.

Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace is working on meeting room / reservation policies with Spaces.

Candace is working with the United Way committee for the 2014 FOCUS event activities.

She is also preparing for the 2014 MLS Staff Recognition scheduled Saturday, November 8th.

Administration / Commission – Donna reported Commission reappointment letters were sent out. There have not been any replies at this time. Commissioner Stephanie West resigned and was already replace by new Commissioner Karen Helton for the Edmond area.

Donna will begin vacation August 4th and will return August 12th.

Finance & Support – Absent

Information Technology – Anne stated the IT Department is still busy working with the ILS System.
