Leadership Team Minutes - June 09, 2021

News:

  • Just an update on HB2644 (Public Meetings). Larry has been tracking HB 2644 that would have extended the date to which a public body may hold meetings by teleconference or videoconference to March 31, 2024. It apparently died in committee, so there will be no extension for the use of virtual meetings.

Notes: May 27, this bill died in committee, so there will be no extension for virtual meetings, so public meetings will be in person. (Staff may continue to have virtual internal meetings.)

Interim Executive Director Video Update

I hope this finds you well and enjoying your day. I know there are questions about how the library is responding to Covid and other organizational activities. So, during this video (filmed on Thursday Nov. 5), I walk through our current status of covid within the system and provide other organizational news / information.  In addition to the Covid news, I also discuss SMG / LT developments, the Communications Cabinet, and other system information.

As an addendum to the video, I know this morning's Covid -related data took a steep climb. I will be bringing data to the Executive Committee of the MLC on Wednesday to discuss how the library moves forward.

Based on your responses, I will try to make a regular video message and share them every 2 weeks. Please send me any questions you may have, and I will give you an answer (either via video or other means).

Thank you for everything you do that allows MLS to make a positive difference in our communities.

    ERM Overview

Sarah Peterson gave an overview of the Electronic Resource Management (ERM) tool that has been built for Metro.  The ERM will be used to better coordinate the management information related to the cost, access (including licensing info), and use of all of our electronic subscriptions and acquisitions.  For now, access is limited to collection development and management staff and those in the digital library, but it may be opened up for others later.  It was launched this past winter, and had a subset of resources included.  Other resources will be added in the coming months.  The tool can be used to set targets for use and cost per use, so that collection development staff can more easily determine which resources are performing well and which are underperforming.
