REPORTS

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT – Todd provided updates on current construction projects. He met with the architect regarding the plans for the revolving doors downtown. The original plans have been revised and are expected to be out to bid in 60 days. Todd, Donna and Denyvetta will be meeting with the city and contractor for Ralph Ellison on Friday. October 22 is the tentative move-in date. Todd is working on design documents for Southern Oaks.

ADMINISTRATION & COMMISSION – Donna passed around a copy of the revised alley parking assignments. Everyone who parked in the alley previously will have their same parking.

There will now only be two guest spaces available. Donna will be sending the memo out to all Downtown staff.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY – Anne reported techs are currently installing Internet Explorer 8 on all staff computers. She is working with Diane and her staff on the net solutions software. In an attempt to do away with floppy disks, flash drives will be available to the public to purchase for $7 each. They will have the library system’s logo and should be available within the next couple of weeks.

DEVELOPMENT – Diane reported the Outstanding Service Award committee has sent posters to each department and location. An email has also been sent out notifying employees the nominations forms are now available online to electronically submit a nomination for the award.

Diane reported author, Harlan Coben has been selected for Literary Voices.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE – Patrick reported he is in the process of hiring two potential drivers.

The Ralph Ellison sculpture will be installed by Friday.

OUTREACH – Dana reported Emily Williams was accepted into the Loyal program for Leadership OKC.

The Read To Me packets are being redesigned.

Lisa Wood scheduled a 123 Play with Me Saturday event at Warr Acres Library. The turnout was so good that Lisa, Barbara Beasley, and Alma Brown are going to begin rotating weekends to be able to offer the Play with Me program regularly.

LIBRARY OPERATION & PLANNING – Kay reported the Managers will be trained on the new appraisal system at the Manager’s meeting this afternoon.

Planning is currently preparing for Focus.

Candace has visited several locations to participate with them in their daily service principles. Beginning October 5th, Managers will be setting the timing of the Service Principle discussions; they will decide how often to meet during the week. Newsletters containing new ideas will also be sent out regularly. Kay referenced an article in the June edition of ShelfLife, which refers to a recent survey, showing that customer perception is up by 5%.

LIBRARY OPERATIONS – Denyvetta reported the Extension staff will be trained on the new performance appraisal system at their bi-annual meeting on October 5 at Luther. 

Denyvetta shared kudos sent to various library staff from customers.

LIBRARY OPERATIONS (HEADQUARTER) – Candace reported United Way is in full swing. Staff Recognition invites will be sent out interagency mail October 1.
