Human Resources – Lori announced great news. The Manager of Library Operations’ positions have been filled at Choctaw Library and the Village Library. Emily Canniff, current Assistant Manager at the Southern Oaks Library, will begin her new role as the Manager of the Village Library on Tuesday, September 3rd and Todd Podzemny, current Assistant Manager at the Edmond Library, will begin his new role as Manager of the Choctaw Library on Monday, September 9th. The Human Resources Department and Library Operations are now looking for new Assistant Manager of Library Operations for both locations.

Flexible Spending Account with MAA Update

MAA is in the process of running the first Flex claims this week.  You can access your account online anytime by visiting the MAA website. Each participant needs to follow the registration instructions (included in the MAA Flexible Spending Account Welcome Packet) to access their account the first time.

State Questions Regarding Property Taxes

Lloyd Lovely shared information regarding the results from November’s election regarding State Questions 758 and 766 and their impact on the MLS. The impact of the results will not be known until August 2013 when the final Ad Valorem taxes are given by the county. However, there will be no impact on the current year’s budget. In preparing for next year’s budget requests, staff should consider prioritizing those requests.

Facilities Maintenance – Patrick is resolving a few issues at the Northwest Library. Southern Oaks is coming along smoothly and the Service Center procedures are now complete. Patrick announced the Bethany library will close to replace the electric meter and transformer. The date has changed to Friday, August 10, 2012.

Human Resources - Lori will continue to review internal processes and procedures for new hire orientation.

Security Department

As part of the duties of temporary Human Resources Director, the Security Department has been reporting directly to me. This is a permanent change. Human Resources will no longer be connected with Security. Linda Hyams remains as manager of that department and you should continue to direct your security questions and requests to her.
