Larry led Leadership Team through exercises exploring possible core values and a mission statement.
Department Updates:
Business Office, Development & Volunteer Services
- BUS & DVS led the XChange meetings yesterday discussing the budget process and process for requesting grants.
- Booksale is coming up. They are replacing some missing vinyl banners to advertise the Booksale.
Human Resources, Learning & Development
- HUM is recruiting for 20 positions, including 6 manager positions. They are busy providing resources to staff regarding the topics covered in the fall XChange/Legal Aspects trainings.
- L&D provided a proposed mandatory training schedule for 2020. Discussion followed.
IT
- IT is reviewing where budgeted purchases are at for this year. They are installing replacement computers across the system.
- They are also working on bid documents for a fleet tracking system and for a sorter to replace the Service Center sorter, which is at the end of the expected life.
Operations, Maintenance, Planning & Assessment, Security, Marketing
PLA
- Planning will be requesting of departments data points that they would like to survey peer libraries about. They will be compiling all of the requests and sending out a single survey to 30-50 peer libraries. Libraries that participate will also have access to the data that is gathered.
MTC
- The fan for the MC HVAC system has arrived and is being installed.
Public Services and libraries, CIS, Collection Anywhere, EPS, Outreach, Access
- Winter Reading program has begun.
- The Regional Director regions are changing again. The changes will be sent to LT when they become effective.
- Channel 5 is doing a story on the bakery in the Downtown Library. They are a donation site for Puerto Rico relief efforts.
- Overdrive had over 2 million checkouts in 2019.
Admin, Metropolitan Library Commission & Senior Management Group
- The mileage procedures will have a way for staff who miss the deadline for submission to be reimbursed.
- The vehicle accident reporting procedure is being revised to include a requirement for drug testing immediately after the accident.
- Dennis (MTC) is responsible for all MLS fleet vehicles.
