Holiday Open House at Downtown Library

Thanks to all who participated in the Holiday Open House Festival of Trees.  Even with all the snow on Sunday, we hosted over 200 guests for the festivities.  Our customers had the opportunity to enjoy the theme trees and voted on their favorites.  They were all wonderful and they all got many votes.

Holiday Open House at Capitol Hill

This year our annual Christmas event received a visit from the Ghost of Inclement Weather!

Still, we weren’t deterred. Santa Claus showed up for his photo session and allowed us to give the gift of reading to hardy attendees.

We also served up cookies and hot cocoa, gave out vouchers for free books, had a room full of holiday make ‘n take crafts, and a Reading Elf!

Later, we enjoyed the smooth, jazzy sounds of Mitch’s Brew, which helped us keep warm on a cold, cold day.

Tinker Air Force Base Library Card Sign Up

Recently, Metro was contacted by Tinker Air Force base because they were curious as to what we could offer those serving at the base. Metro staff met with Tinker's Commanding Officer and the Director of the Tinker Library and from this meeting, we determined that it would be helpful to visit the base to sign up service members for library cards so on October 30th, staff from Midwest City and Planning did just that. In attendance from Midwest City was Chris Kennedy, Tracey Thompson, Crystal Suppes and Shirley Henderson while Kellie Delaney and Tim Spindle from Planning were there, too.

Ralph Ellison's Fall Festival

Ralph Ellison's annual Fall Festival is a large family event. Participants visited a petting zoo, got their face painted, played spooky games, created one-of-a-kind crafts, and walked the runway during the costume contest. Kids also received a book, MLS backpack, candy, and snacks.

Haunt the Hill

Halloween celebrations took place on Capitol Hill Main Street on Halloween night as part of the 1st Haunt the Hill Event, an idea conceived by Jennifer Jones, Capitol Hill Associate Librarian, in collaboration with the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District. This event sought to provide a fun and safe event for the community that both young and old could enjoy.

2nd Annual Toddler Halloween Parade/Library Tour

This Tuesday and Wednesday the Edmond Library held the 2nd annual Toddler Halloween Parade/Library Tour. We combine the two because not all families participate in Halloween, but we want everyone to particiapte in the library tour, going behind the circulation desk, meeting the librarians (and getting a little candy while they're at it!). Let's face it, babies and toddlers are adorable without being in costume, but dress them up as Superman or a princess?! It doesn't get any cuter than that!!
