Tinker Air Force Base Library Card Sign Up

Recently, Metro was contacted by Tinker Air Force base because they were curious as to what we could offer those serving at the base. Metro staff met with Tinker's Commanding Officer and the Director of the Tinker Library and from this meeting, we determined that it would be helpful to visit the base to sign up service members for library cards so on October 30th, staff from Midwest City and Planning did just that. In attendance from Midwest City was Chris Kennedy, Tracey Thompson, Crystal Suppes and Shirley Henderson while Kellie Delaney and Tim Spindle from Planning were there, too.

We setup a "pop up" library that consisted of a table full of library card applications, November's info Magazine, marketing materials for our various events, services and holdings, and a number of eReaders and tablets to demonstrate our downloadable and streaming collections. Our goal was to let the service members know about all of the great resources, services, and materials our library system has to offer the Tinker community. We had a good time and a great day on the base!

Awesome!

This is great! It's amazing how many people still don't know about the wide variety of resources we offer. This might be a good idea to do at businesses that have a lot of employees. I wonder how many Devon employees walk past the DN Library, yet don't have a library card or know that we're more than just books. Kudos to Tinker for seeking out resources to help their employees!
