Database Highlight #11: We've got the Heritage for That

National Hispanic Heritage Month is officially under way! Hispanic Americans have been a part of the American experience well before the Declaration of Independence. This week’s database highlight, Latino American Experience, traces Latin-American history from the Mayan Empire to modern times. Using first and secondary sources, the timeline takes users through the Great Depression and the Latin-American experience of the civil rights movement.

ODL Expands EBSCO Offerings in New Statewide Database Contract

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries has once again selected EBSCO Information Services to provide the statewide reference databases for all schools and libraries in the state. The new contract goes into effect on October 1, 2017, and can be extended for up to five years.

Database Highlight #10: We've got the Resume for That

Libraries often report being asked for help creating a resume. This week’s database highlight, Cypress Resume, walks users step by step through the process of building their resume. Unlike Word Templates, which can be filled with trick formatting, Cypress Resume prompts users to enter the right information and even links them to a job description so they have an easier time listing the proper experience.

This week’s database highlight, World Almanac for Kids, is part encyclopedia, part atlas, part quiz, and part instruction. There’s something for every student whether it is looking up a research topic or satisfying a curiosity.  Not to mention it’s a great place to look for state and country flags (look under Resources)!
