Press release from our friends at the Oklahoma Department of Libraries:

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries has once again selected EBSCO Information Services to provide the statewide reference databases for all schools and libraries in the state. The new contract goes into effect on October 1, 2017, and can be extended for up to five years.

Here's what you need to know right now:

  • All of the same databases are returning, but four are changing. Academic Search and Business Source will be available at the Elite Level. (The Oklahoma State Regents may elect to upgrade these databases to Premiere Level for colleges and universities.) Also, MAS Complete and Regional Business News Plus have been upgraded.
  • Plus, there are nine new databases added to the Digital Prairie collection!
  1. Computer Source: Consumer Edition
  2. Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center
  3. Home Improvement Reference Center
  4. Legal Collection
  5. Legal Information Reference Center
  6. Poetry and Short Story Reference Center
  7. Psychology and Behavioral Science Collection
  8. Religion and Philosophy Collection
  9. Sociological Collection

Watch for more information on these Digital Prairie offerings.

Premier downgraded to Elite?

Am I reading this correctly that our subscription levels for both Academic Search and Business Source will be downgraded from Premier to Elite? If so, do we know what components of our current subscription we stand to lose?

Premier

In Academic Search Premier we would lose access to about 6600 full text journals/magazines with Business Source it's about 1000 but, don't worry, I'm going to do my best to make sure that doesn't happen. It's an important collection and not one we want to let go.

re: Premier

If we downgrade from Premier to Elite, I think I can handle that. However, if we keep tumbling down through the levels of Diamond, Exclusive, Upper Echelon, Choice, Grade A, Top Shelf & end up at Value level then I'm going to have a problem with that.
