MyMetrolibrary Updates July 2012

New to MyMetrolibrary!

  1. Administrative Toolbar
  2. Dashboard
  3. Crafting Closet

When users now log into MyMetrolibrary they will see an administrative toolbar at the top of the site.  From there, they can view their account, add new content, view their dashboard, and shopping cart.  They also can log out by clicking Log Out in the top right corner.  The administrative toolbar offers some great features and can be updated at anytime to add new links or shortcuts for all staff.

Matrix Camp

Yesterday, the Downtown Library and the Service Center had visitors from the 2012 Matrix Camp. Matrix Camp is a week-long event that provides middle school-aged Oklahomans the opportunity to learn more about libraries and librarians sponsored by the Oklahoma Library Association. Northwest Grand Opening

Friends of the Library Funding Opportunities (New Wish List Process)

After much discussion and input, a new process for requesting and distributing monies from the Friends for special projects is beginning.  In the past staff and libraries would request funds from the Friends prior to the budget input cycle. Along with trying to determine the needs at a library for the upcoming year, we were asking that you also try to identify special projects that might be appropriate to ask for the Friends to fund.

Draft of the Stragetic Plan Goals

Over the past month we have discussed on the MyMetrolibrary forums the four responses and eight goals we are considering for our next Strategic Plan. I find it extremely beneficial and exciting to be able to hear from others on the forums and thank each person who has contributed. Based on my understanding of those discussions, the following is a draft of the responses and goals. Do you have any suggestions as we work to finalize this draft? I need to get it finalized by next week (April 16-20). Here are a few questions to consider:

Additional Service Hours

As approved in the FY 12 budget, MLS will be adding operating hours this spring at all 12 full‐service libraries, 5 extension libraries as well as opening a new full‐service library. The following hours will be added:

Security Department

As part of the duties of temporary Human Resources Director, the Security Department has been reporting directly to me. This is a permanent change. Human Resources will no longer be connected with Security. Linda Hyams remains as manager of that department and you should continue to direct your security questions and requests to her.
