Get Excited! Friends of the Metropolitan Library System's 40th Annual Booksale - FAQs

Booksale 2020 is right around the corner! And we are so excited to celebrate the 40th year of this unique shopping and volunteering experience. Posters, bookmarks and an information sheet (as detailed below, and attached) will be sent to library locations and key departments on January 10th. As the Friends' annual Booksale event has become such a popular regional event, we wanted to share the following information with all staff so that you are in the know and are empowered to answer any questions you receive. You can help by encouraging volunteerism and attendance at the event.

Calling all book-loving Volunteers!

The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System hope to have a record number of memberships this year! However, we're still in need of a few hundred volunteers to make Booksale 2019 run as smoothly as possible. Staff members are eligible to volunteer (on your own time, of course) and we ask that you please encourage your interested customers to join us as well. Sign up and display this simple sign to encourage others to join us!

Booksale 2019 - No Batteries Required - but Volunteers Needed!

We are so excited for the Friends of the Metropolitan Library System's annual Booksale event to be held the weekend of February 22, 23 and 24! If you have never been, or even if you have, we encourage you to come and participate. The easiest way to participate that will give you the most benefit, is to sign up as a volunteer.

Ground Rules agreed upon:

  • Everyone participates
  • Be present and focused
  • Start and finish on time
  • Speak up and ask questions
  • Raise issues in the meeting
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Be respectful of others’ opinions and time
  • Notetaker comes prepared and coordinates with review team to ensure accuracy and that action and future planning items are clearly noted.

2017 Booksale Information

Thank you for your part in raising awareness about the 38th Annual Friends of the Metropolitan Library System Booksale on Saturday February 25th and Sunday February 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in the Oklahoma Expo Building. The Booksale will go on regardless of the weather. It will not close unless the Fairgrounds does!

  1. New Ad Team Approach and Format (Rogers)

    • Tim discussed a new purpose statement for the Ad Team, reading, “To discuss and make decisions on issues having system wide impact or effecting multiple departments.” Team members reviewed the statement and agreed that it mirrored their expectations of the group.
