Communication was sent out to all Downtown staff members about the change in the evacuation assembly area. A written procedure for emergency response at the downtown building was presented to the committee for review. The procedure outlines specific assignments for staff members during evacuation. The committee agreed that the procedure is thorough enough to be distributed to all staff members. E-mail communication will be sent to all downtown staff.
Review of last meeting minutes. We have not received the step ladder for the staff lounge yet. Frank will follow up on the order and report to the committee.
Janet reported results of the survey sent to library and department managers concerning the disposal of sharps. 29 responses were received. 18 responses indicated that they dispose of sharps infrequently and when there is a need, they ensure they sharps are wrapped securely before disposing in the trash. It was suggested that the library not purchase sharps containers at this time. There is a need to promote awareness about sharps safety. A safety training slide will be added to the intranet in the near future.
Denise presented the suggested step ladder to be purchased for the downtown staff lounge. The ladder meets OSHA’s highest rating and can be folded flat for storage. Everyone agreed on the purchase. Denise will submit the RFP to Frank Ray.
Reviewed progress with the PEOSH inspection. We now have chemical inventories from all MLS locations. Binders have been ordered to assemble MSDS for every department/library. Three master binders will be assembled for Purchasing, Maintenance and Safety Committee.

-Around the Table
Review of meeting with Ryan Parkhurst with MetroTech to begin the process of developing procedures and documentation covering MSDS, Exposure Control Plans; PPE and Lockout/Tagout. These are the areas addressed in the recent PEOSH inspection of Ralph Ellison. In order to complete the written procedures, we must gather and organize all Material Safety Data Sheets for all locations. The first step in this process will be performing an inventory of all chemical used and stored at each library location. Once the inventories have been done, we can assemble the necessary MSDS.
