1,000 Books Before Kindergarten – Kristen (EPS)

Update on bounced emails:

  • Sometimes customer texts are bounced if service has been hindered due to lack of payment, etc.
  • Bounced email addresses will be deleted from customer account.

Renewals in catalog:

  • “Select all” only selects what appears on the screen. Only the first 20 items are initially loaded into the customer’s account to speed the website response time. Encourage customers to scroll to the bottom of the page to ensure all items appear before using “select all” to renew all items.

Item deletions:

  • Some inactive/empty BIDs cannot be deleted yet. Waiting on Collections to create a workflow to allow this.
  • Full item charges can be on account for deleted Lost items, as well as late fees for said items.
  • Be sure to use “Cancel” on any fines that may be on an account due to these lost items when the item is returned.

Discussions

Findaway: How to approach multi-colored Playaway battery covers?

  • Findaway will be sending multi-colored Playaway battery covers from now on.
  • It is ok to mismatch the battery covers.
  • We will not be separating them by color in the supplies catalog.

Dynamic Holds: How are we deciding when to stop the holds process in the morning? How do you decide to run a second look of holds?

  • Marking an item Not Found updates item status to the current day. Must look at transaction history in CARL.X to find last transaction.
  • Do not refresh the holds list in the morning to keep list from continually repopulating with new items.
  • After second check, code only as Missing. Tracing the item adds it to another list, which would end up as Missing eventually. Tracer list would eventually get out of hand.
    • This can be started whenever practical for your location. Keep track of any challenges this has brought and notify Risa or Tricia as you notice them. Collections will keep tabs on any spike in reordering items that are last items marked as Missing.
  • Items stay on a library’s Fill List approximately 3 days before moving on to another library to fill.

Delivery Schedule:

  • Start date is October 21st.
  • Drivers will at first rotate routes weekly, and eventually monthly.
  • Will receive information on providing feedback regarding challenges and successes with the new process once it starts.
  • No change in Saturday route arrival times.
