Talking Point Suggestions

  • Adults in your community can be our biggest advocates. Start conversations by telling them you work for the library. Most adults will usually have a positive thing to say about the library upon which you can expand. Tell them about Summer Reading, and how beneficial the library and this program are for the community.
  • You can count reading to your kids or grandkids
  • Audiobooks and magazine reading count
  • You don’t have to log the number of books, just the time spent reading.  Use the Beanstack app to log easily.
  • Summer Reading helps you become a part of the community.  Discuss the 8-million-minute community goal and mention the Read it Forward program.
  • Highlight that you don’t even have to set foot in the library to participate
  • Share information about Libby, hoopla, or the Kanopy apps! The general public doesn’t know about these apps unless they are library users.
  • Reading is a form of wellness and self-care
  • You can listen to audiobooks while working out
  • Reading is a way to de-stress.
  • You can also earn points by attending virtual programs or completing activities online.
