Summer Reading is a yearly program we host that promotes reading in our community. It is completely free, and participants can earn prizes by meeting goals. Participation can not only help improve overall mental health, but it is also a great way to get together again in our current socially distanced world.

If you are interested, there are multiple ways that you can participate. You can sign up online and encourage your family, friends, and coworkers to do the same. We would also love it if you could spread the word through your social media pages. We want as many people to participate as possible, because if we meet our goal, we will be able to donate new books to children in need through this year's partner charity, RestoreOKC.

I am reaching out to see if your organization/group would like to participate in our Summer Reading program. Summer Reading is a yearly program we host that promotes reading in our community. It is completely free, and participants can earn prizes by meeting goals. This is a great way to promote overall wellness and togetherness! Reading can reduce stress, improve memory and concentration, strengthen your analytical and thinking skills, and improve your outlook. Reading together, attending programs, or setting group goals can allow us to get together again in our current socially distanced world.

There are many ways that your organization/group can participate. You can organize a book club, give employees time to read, offer additional incentives for your members, or even see how many minutes your group can contribute to our overall community goal.

It is easy to sign up online, through the Beanstack app, or through your local library. Once you sign up, you can spread the word through your social media and encourage others to participate with you. If we can meet our community goal of reading 8 million minutes, we’ll be able to donate books to children in need, and that will all be because of amazing people like you.

Legislators or Representatives

I am reaching out because I know you are an avid library supporter and reader! The Metropolitan Library System is launching its Summer Reading Program on June 1st. Participants who earn 600 points through reading or activities between June 1st and July 31st will receive a choice of books or an MLS branded tote and be entered into a drawing for a prize pack. The program can be completed entirely online, through our Beanstack app, or participants can pick up a reading log at the library and return it when completed.

We are looking to promote this program as widely as possible to get our community excited about reading and to help promote library resources. Would you be interested in helping us promote this program the first week of June by posting about it on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? You do such a great job connecting with your constituents on social media we thought you would be a great ally in helping us get the word out.
