Beanstack

In addition to using the mobile version and desktop site, Beanstack has an app to help Summer Readers! We've been promoting this app for a few years, so hopefully many guests have it downloaded already and just need to be reminded about it.

One of the reasons we are so excited about the Beanstack app is that it makes it so easy for guests to sign up and log minutes. Beanstack reports that participation rates were 50% higher for those who downloaded the app. And 76% of users who downloaded the app logged reading. So please make sure our customers know about the new Beanstack app!

It is available for iOS and Android.

Beanstack has a mobile app tour video overview.

Guest guides for using the Beanstack website and Beanstack mobile app are available on the SR Downloads page.

Beanstack Tandems

Oklahoma City Public Schools is now an institutional client with Beanstack. This means all OKCPS students and staff automatically have Beanstack accounts. We reached an agreement with OKCPS and representatives from Beanstack to link our accounts in a feature that Beanstack calls Tandems. It is as easy as Beanstack student/parent users having the option to opt in to linking their school and library accounts upon their next login. Once enabled, logged reading will count for both programs. So when OKCPS students are logging reading for school this summer, they have the option of logging for our Summer Reading program as well. Beanstack has provided an overview of the steps involved here and staff resources and customer-facing handouts are available for those who have questions. These guides are on the SR Downloads page.

How do I update passwords on customers' accounts?

  1. Click on People > Find a Person.
  2. Type in the name or other relevant info. and click Search.
  3. Click on the account creator's name (Not the name of the reader).
  4. Click the Edit button in the Account Info box - do not click Edit Information. If you click on "edit information" under the reader's names at this step, you will not see the username and password fields. It's only under the Account Info box on the  account creator's account.
  5. Update Password: If a customer forgets their password, you can enter a temporary password here and they can reset it later.
