The meeting began at 8:30 with staff gathering, getting something to eat and drink, and finding a seat. Self-Introductions went around the table along with opening and welcoming remarks from Dana.

PRESENTERS:

Amber Austin of Dwelling Place Organization would like to present some seminar type programs at branches such as Think Outside the Rubbermaid Box, Budget Friendly Organization, Organize With Your Kids, Busy Mom’s Guide to a Happy Organized Home, Kitchen Arrangement 101, 5 Simple Steps to Organize Anything, and others. Larry Daniel of Snake Rescue and Educational Outreach spoke about snakes (no snakes were present). He offers a variety of programs designed to introduce people to the different kinds of snakes-poisonous/non-poisonous, keeping snakes as pets, and more. Todd Olberding presented a power point on various library construction projects.

Diane Sarantakos on Development news and she wants stories. Several people shared. Email your stories to [email protected].

Mary Surbeck from Community Foundation introduced the Literacy Referral person—Najah Hilton, wo is at Village Library on Saturday mornings from 10-12:00. Others expressed interest in having the same service at their branches.

Ruby Soutiere, Mat Sel gave an Overdrive Update and how some books are available as ebooks but not to libraries and ways to try to explain it to your frustrated customers.

Dana Morrow spoke on how to send jpegs to your email customer base list. She handed out a flier from the “Butterflies of the World Foundation” interested in giving programs. ($75 per show) contact at 405- 527-1043, www.botwf.org.

Lee Wells brought a stack of miniature quilts and demonstrated a “Bed Turning” program in miniature. She also suggested Feed Sack Quilts and Introduction to Quilting. Contact at 354-6275 or [email protected].

Kelly Elsey of the Oklahoma Humanities Council spoke of the Let’s Talk About It program and some changes there. They provide an opportunity grant where they match dollar for dollar. The grant is an on-line application.

Anita Roesler gave a Winter Readfest Update and mentioned the Belle of Amherst program in Feb at 4 library locations.

Emily, OUT –her work and opportunities to reach out at the OK. County Juvenile Center with the young men who are incarcerated. She also mentioned the speed dating program coming up.

Gloria, CH—is starting a book club for the homeless, has several veterans programs planned such as The Lifeworks Program and Career Days. She and Jana are brainstorming many opportunities to draw in new customers.

Julianna, VI—mentioned the new housing addition and new customer s, the book clubs are still going strong, tax training is coming up soon.

Sharon, BE—a Magician, a Father’s Day Car Show, and Tai Chai classes are all coming up.

Darrie, SO—Book Clubs, a Read In in February, Friday night films program is very popular.

Kelley, WA—organizing workshop, write your own story, discussed the challenge of no-shows.

Lindsay, DC—Tai Chai. Yoga, Money Smart, Busy Persons Book Club, Salsa Dancing classes then a Salsa Social, movie night, Orvil Ray Craft Club.

Susie, CT—2nd. Annual Story Telling Festival, Lou Ann Waters on the Chisholm Trail, Gem and Mineral Day—jewelry making, Diabetes seminars.

Joey, RE—Movie Night, bought a popcorn popper, Tutors, Black History Month celebration, Tai Chai, Quilting Program.

Marilyn, Mat Sel—iWeed training is a must take class and this systems is going to be wonderful!

Mary Ann, ED—History Book Club

Suzette, MC—had water color program, planning Crowns Tea for Feb, starting Non-Fiction Book Club, and they are evaluating programs Morning snacks were pastries from Panera, a catered lunch was from Venesio’s, and ice cream from Braums was served for the afternoon snack with nuts and pretzels.

Group was dismissed with a reminder that the next meeting is May 9th. At NW Library at 1:00.
