Database Highlight #3: We've Got the Hobby for That

This summer the Metropolitan Library System invites members to “build a better world”. We’ve got a database for that (you knew we did)! This week’s database highlight goes to Ebsco’s Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center.
“This database offers detailed "how-to" instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast. Full text is provided from leading hobby and craft magazines.”
This database will guide you through any craft or hobby, from beer making to scrapbooking. Useful for storying time craft ideas too!
This week’s open site is Oklahoma Gardening. Oklahoma Gardening is a weekly tv program to you by Oklahoma State University, this site is a great place to find gardening information specific to our region. You can watch the full episodes on YouTube. In addition to gardening resources, you’ll find recipes, plant identification (yes, that’s poison ivy), and Tips of the Month.

I would love to do some of these, and the arts and crafts look like they would be lots of fun for kids, especially the jewelry making. I like to cook at home, so it was very helpful to learn that roma tomatoes make a thicker marinara sauce than slicing tomatoes. I think many people will find this site interesting and helpful.
Thanks Tia! While Sadie's away I get to play prize master! Check your mail for a fun prize!
PS: Tomatoes are my favorite food of all time! They are so versatile.
What a cool database!
The graphics are a little dated, but the concept is still just as good. Plus, this would be a great project for kid-sitting on a rainy afternoon with a bored kiddo... http://web.b.ebscohost.com/hcrc/pdfviewer/pdfviewer?vid=5&sid=b4d85c61-c...
And what a sweet treat to show the parents when they return home! What's better than an even LOUDER toddler? ;)
Hey Angel,
The link didn't work, but you're still a winner!
I would love to take my little brothers kayaking! http://web.b.ebscohost.com/hcrc/detail/detail?vid=2&sid=c7127dea-dc97-4a... would be great to read beforehand!
I didn't watch the show, and the link didn't take me to the July tips for gardening, but the video's description states it will show the watcher several great deer resistant plants for their landscape. I would like to learn about plants that would get deer into my yard to fulfill my Snow White/Cinderella-esque animal duet dreams.
CinderellaBridget,Congrats you're a winner! Wish the link would have worked to learn more about kayaking!
Bridget is MLS's very own Rapunzel :)
