Database Highlight #40: We'll go International for That

This week’s database highlight, Global Road Warrior, asks “Where do you want to go?” The question can be answered by accessing travel guides for over 200 countries. Select from an alphabetical list, using the map, or search with a keyword and return a complete travel guide right on your screen or in your mobile browser! This database is great for school country reports as well.

Summer Reading School Mailing Update

This past Tuesday, EPS and staff from around the system helped to package over 152,000 Summer Reading postcards for schools in our service area!

Database Highlight #39: We've got the Educational Video for That

Poetry, taxes, and…autism! This month is Autism Awareness Month a.k.a. Minecraft Awareness Month. Despite growing numbers of children being identified on the spectrum, not much is known about this neurological disorder. Keeping up with the latest research can be daunting but this week’s database highlight, Access Video on Demand, offers hundreds of videos on educational topics, including autism, from producers like ABC, TED, PBS, HBO, and more.

Summer Reading Training is LIVE

To familiarize yourself with the 2018 Summer Reading Program, Engagement and Program Services (EPS) asks that all staff complete a required self-guided Summer Reading Program training by performing various tasks in Beanstack and watching a Summer Reading Program video. These actions are designed to provide you with an overview of the program along with the procedures our customers (and you as staff members) will need to complete to sign up, track reading, claim prizes and more!

Summer Reading 2018 Behind the Scenes

Our Summer Reading prep team has put their sweat and tears into creating a successful SRP '18. Kudos to staff from around the system and our amazing maintenance department for all of their help working with EPS on what is sure to be the best summer ever here at Metro! Over the past couple of months, staff volunteers spent a total of three days working at the Service Center to box 21,000 prize books for children and teens!
