The Ralph Ellison Library, part of the Metropolitan Library System, has been selected through a competitive application process to be part of NASA@ My Library, an education initiative created to increase and enhance STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning opportunities for library customers throughout the nation.
“The Ralph Ellison Library is one of just 60 libraries nationwide to be part of this initiative, and we’re thrilled to have been selected,” said Kristin Williamson, children’s services manager, who applied for the grant. “We look forward to introducing STEAM concepts to our younger customers and to exploring the universe together with people of all ages during our programs in 2021 and 2022.”
As you know, we have a new 24/7 Edmond Library Kiosk which will probably be used mostly for holds pickups and returns.
Put your creativity hat on and help us come up with a name for this new awesome corner of Edmond! Need a start? Here are some quick ideas the Communications Cabinet came up with (but I think you guys can do better!):
Book Nook?
Metro Express?
Nacho Libro (seriously?? lol!)
Shelfie Station
Help us name this little guy. We're taking names until October 17.

Hello Metro,
We have gathered a number of facts and frequently asked questions for curious staff. Our wonderful colleagues in CIS are entering the pertinent (for customers) information for the public into FAQs on our web site. If you have questions, something to add to our FAQs , or to set up a training session, please contact Teresa Matthews or Kimberly Boldt.

In September I send out a MS Form to gather staff input in phone number defaults in CARL. As a reminder, with the addition of the "572" area code, a question was proposed to change the default area code in CARL to be blank (instead of “405-“). Additionally, CARL is very specific on how it searches for phone numbers. It will only bring back results if the format matches exactly. If the phone number is searched as "405-606-3863" but entered on the account as "(405) 606-3863", then the account WILL NOT be listed in the search results (and vice versa).
Good news! We will soon have two more venues to partner with for more Experience Passes. Starting on November 1, we will be offering Experience Passes to the Oklahoma History Center and it's affiliated museums and historic sites and Skeletons: the Museum of Osteology.
