Summer Reading Tip of the Week—Fine Waivers

Print

We are officially a quarter of the way through Summer Reading 2018, which means that you might already have customers who are ready to put their SR fine waivers to good use! Below are some general best practices and reminders to keep in mind over the upcoming months.

How Do Fine Waivers Work?

  • Fine waivers are for use on overdue/late fines only.
  • Fine waivers cannot be used on lost or damaged materials.
  • Fine waivers cannot be used on ILL materials.
  • Fine waivers can be used one time, on one account, for up to $6.00.
  • Fine waivers expire on December 31, 2018.
  • Fine waivers are not redeemable for cash.
  • Fine waivers are transferrable!
    • Pay It Forward: Customers can pass along their fine waiver to a family member or a complete stranger! They can also ask library staff about "paying it forward" and donating their fine waiver to another library member.
  • Fine waivers are good for in-library use only. They cannot be used online to clear fines.

Running Low on Fine Waivers?

Order more fine waivers by having the staff member designated to order supplies at your library submit a SR supply order. In a pinch? Contact Teresa Matthews in EPS via phone or email! She will ensure that you get what you need ASAP.

In an emergency situation you could also use your Pay It Forward stash and just make sure to replace it as soon as your SR fine waiver order arrives.

Only official SR fine waivers can be redeemed (no photocopies, etc.), so make sure to keep your supply fully stocked!
