Introductions
Northwest is still moving! If anybody wants to help, please feel free to join them.
Dana - In October 9 libraries will be presenting the Modern Dance troop, Perpetual Motion. This program will be presented in larger libraries as they need a large space to dance. In November Genteicorum will be making the trip. Summer Reading is starting!
Presenter:
Clyde the Slide - Trombone player. Has been entertaining since retired in 1994. Flexible on prices. 405-943-4141
Marilyn Backus - MSL has been getting a lot of questions about iWeed. Try to avoid "no action", unless the book is checked out, either keep or withdraw. Make sure to look at every book, even if you know you want to keep the book, to make sure it is actually on shelf. If you would like to request that a subject be bought, rather than just a single book, email MSL to do so.
BYOB - Anita passed around a list of when the programs are scheduled for everybody to double check. It was mentioned that some people would like to see more information about Business plans rather than just business loans.
Presenter: R.J. Ballard - Here until end of year, not from Oklahoma regularly. Steel string acoustic guitar player and singer plays all sorts of different music. 971-404-8872 [email protected] $100.00 for a 45 minute set. (Will probably play longer than the 45 minutes he said)
Heidi Port - Volunteer Training Software! Heidi handed out bookmarks that walk you through the steps to set up a volunteer. Volunteers can search by location, zip code, opportunities, or just view all opportunities. When a volunteer selects an opportunity that is known as a referral. A volunteer is not approved and cannot be placed until they have a background check (teen a signed parental waiver). When you create an opportunity, always put the location first.
Emily Williams - Summer Reading! This year we had postcards printed for both the teen and children’s reading programs, we are sending these out to schools as we speak! Please do the summer Reading training ASAP. MyMetroLibrary has a tab for Summer Reading, from there you can find marketing pieces and other info for Summer Reading. No Frontier City tickets in coupon booklets, they are drawing prizes this year.
Presenter - Beverly Rorem Writing Memoirs. Has taught at Francis Tuttle. Around a class of 12 if you sign up 14-16. 3-4 sessions. $140 per session. 2 hour session but open for questions after.
Winter Readfest Survey Handed out results of Winter readfest survey. Looking to change the program a bit, maybe follow more of a gameboard type thing like Summer Reading. Going to do training for Winter Readfest next year. Will talk more about it at October meeting.
Presenter Justin Finley - Oklahoma History comes alive through metal detecting. Make an offer on the price, about an hour for program. 405-905-5373
