Adult Services Minutes for May 2012

Clyde the Slide - Trombone player. Has been entertaining since retired in 1994. Flexible on prices. 405-943-4141

Marilyn Backus - MSL has been getting a lot of questions about iWeed. Try to avoid "no action", unless the book is checked out, either keep or withdraw. Make sure to look at every book, even if you know you want to keep the book, to make sure it is actually on shelf. If you would like to request that a subject be bought, rather than just a single book, email MSL to do so.

BYOB - Anita passed around a list of when the programs are scheduled for everybody to double check. It was mentioned that some people would like to see more information about Business plans rather than just business loans.

Young Adult Services Meeting Minutes for April 2012

Teresa brought her pin from when she was a teen volunteer in 1978. She decided to become a librarian when she volunteered as a teen.

Everybody was given a save the date card for the festival of books, this festival is held every 2 years. Each year they have different Children’s and YA authors. Everybody should try to attend.

Free comic book day May 5th. ODL has started to receive the books, and we will try to get them in our office this week and ready to route. Witchblade will be included in the comics, it is not an all ages comic. Set these aside and hand out to adults rather than to children.

You have posters for Summer programs. Everybody was given posters for each program whether it is at your library or not. Everybody was given extra copies of the posters for the programs that they will have at their library, feel free to post them in your community. Emily will be sending out the PDF files so you can email them and print extras on your own.

Updates

Thank you to Del City for letting us use the meeting space. Introductions.

Free comic book day: First Saturday in May. Outreach will get the comic books from ODL and route them to you. Make sure to have at least one staff member working that day that knows what's going on. Go to the free comic book website to see the list of comic books being offered this year. We try to get all ages books but please make sure to be careful not to let children get teen rated comics. Buck at New World Comics offered his services to Annie but sadly they won’t be open yet. If you want to set up a bigger program, you should call him. He might even have his staff dress up and hand out for the comics for you.

We have lots of March programs coming up. Teen Tech, After School at your Library, Hunger Games - We just got the Hunger Games cookbook and the sound track.
