Marketing will continue to advertise through different media outlets. Meaghan is currently working with Rachel Kopchick to involve other school districts. REPORTS

YA Audio Books

Melissa Weathers (MSL) joined the Young Adult Programmers to discuss the new Launchpad and asked “what teens want” and if they are using Play-A-Ways. Emily replied that Play-A-Ways are a popular subject when she does school visits. Melissa stated when ordering Play-A-Ways she tries to order them for libraries who also have print copies. Melissa then asked what the themes were for Summer Reading.

YA Services - February 2015

#bookface contest planned for March to coincide with Teen Tech Month. Youth Media Awards was this week, check the email from Janet, it has a link to the winners. Send instagram photos to Emily for the library’s instagram.

Megan Stanek: Greatschools.org. This site is a new site to Oklahoma that will hold lots of information about our schools. You can look through the site for pretty much any information about the school. The site is fairly easy to use. Please share this information with parents.

Kellie Delaney: My Metrolibrary has been updated and a new login area has been debuted. Signup and Spaces has a few updates going through at this time. Excited about #Bookface. Overdrive will be adding a “Teen Reading Room”. Planning has done a great job with organizing all the tax forms and information to make it easy to find what you need to help your customers.

YA Services - November 2014

We are working on connecting more with customers. Are looking at having drawing prizes throughout the program. Making prize stipulations more broad. Would like to utilize the screens that were previously used for computer sign up to have possibly pictures from the summer displayed. Planning to create décor packs in OUT for libraries to use.

YA Services Retreat Meeting Minutes - March 2014

Janet encouraged everyone to do more displays in their libraries and to share their great displays via MyMetrolibrary so others can enjoy and learn from the displays. She encouraged everyone to try to make displays that use more than one genre of books.
Janet discussed a really cool book display at CH where they did book spine poetry and encouraged the customers to add and change the poems that were created.
There is a free weeding tips webinar March 25 at 1:00 pm. This webinar could be a useful tool to use.

YA Services Meeting Minutes - October 2013

Marketing – Kim Terry

You’re doing great on the calendar proofing, just keep up the good work of keeping a close eye on proofing. Please remember when you are telling MAC about changes that need made, to identify the library, date, program and time, along with your changes. This saves MAC a lot of time hunting around to find the info. If you can keep your descriptions of programs down to 2-3 sentences that would be great. If you have trouble doing that, email Doug the info, he is great with words and can usually help you out!

Make sure to check the pending calendar through the link that Kim sent out. This way you can make sure there are no mistakes on the website and that your program has been entered onto the website. If you missed the deadline for putting things into events, you can go ahead and add it into events (just remember when you do this, that the info only goes on the web, not the magazine). If you add a program into events last minute, always let Kim know so she can publish it to the website.

YA Services Meeting Minutes - May 2013

When you need more Summer supplies, please email Emily, Lisa, and Mary. Before you pull books of out their boxes, please check the age group on the outside of box. MTC will be doing a special delivery this year, the Summer stuff will not come with your regular shipment. Always say thanks to SONIC for donating money for books to us again this year. If your customers would like to write a letter or draw a picture to thank SONIC, please take it or even facilitate the process (this will be a great activity for teen volunteers)! Kids can pick from whatever age group book they would like, they are not tied down to ages.

Handed out teen Summer program posters.

Passed around examples of Summer materials. There is an expiration date on the Riversport coupon, should be 2013 not 2012, they know of this issue and will still honor the coupon.

YA Services Meeting Minutes - March 2013

Emily handed out prizes for the librarians who had read The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson.

Emily got an email from Adrienne Butler at ODL, she is concerned that the comics for Free Comic Book Day might not be ready in time. We made a group decision to change FCBD to May 18th.

Emily is getting a lot of free advanced reader copies and is sharing them with the librarians. If you receive any advanced readers, please keep them, share them, or give them away to teens-- just don’t ever add them to the library’s circulation collection.
