Summer Reading 2014

It’s that time again… time to begin exploring this year’s Summer Reading program and we are excited to share a whole new program with all of you.  Thanks to the hard work of the Incentives to Read Committee we have converted our traditional Summer Reading program into an online Summer Reading program in an attempt to increase our participation without creating unnecessary additional work for library staff.  Watch a short video which describes the goals and components of this year’s program and then begin participating in the staff version of the program to become familiar with the functions.

We will begin with pre-registration beginning TODAY, March 17th (and will continue until April 30th) where each staff member will be able to create real or fictitious accounts for the various aspects of Summer Reader.  Once the staff reading program begins on April 1st we will be sending out various scenarios where you will be asked to perform the basic tasks within the Summer Reader program.  The scenarios are designed to introduce you to the functionality of the program so that you will be able to assist our customers once the Summer Reading program goes live to the public on May 15th.

The training for this year’s Summer Reading program is different than anything we have done in the past, but I think you will find it to be very beneficial and a realistic representation of the processes you will need to accomplish to assist our customers.  Have fun and be on the watch for other exciting things to come!
