Dear [name],
The library system offers prizes each summer to help encourage students to read and avoid the summer slide. We have created some graphics and blurbs for social media that can be found at metrolibrary.org/summerschool or in the attached Marketing Toolkit for Educators.
We would love for you to send these out to your students and parents via email or social media. If you have any questions please let me know how I can help.
Best Wishes,

Outreach Contact Script
Introduction: Hello, thank you for speaking with me today. My name is [name] and I work for Metropolitan Library System at the [library name] Library location. I’m visiting you today to invite you to participate in our Summer Reading Program. Our Summer Reading program is free and for all ages!
Body: Customize your script by using one or two of the 1-minute sales pitch ideas:
- Children: Do you like to impress your teacher? Can you imagine if you told your new teacher on the first day of school that you had read 20 minutes a day every day this summer?
- Early Childhood: Sign up babies and toddlers for Summer Reading, too! We'll help you find books to read to your young ones, and literacy activities that will help them get ready to read when they're older. It's important for brain development!
- Teens: Did you know we have an app now that lets you track your reading? It makes it super easy to earn free books and possibly other prizes like a Kindle Fire, Chromebook or an iPad?
Conclusion: Don’t forget, Summer Reading is for EVERYONE – including you! Be sure to visit us online at metrolibrary.org/summerreading to sign up and to learn more about the great online programs happening throughout the summer. Thank you so much for your time. We look forward to having you participate in this year’s Summer Reading program.
