With the constant influx of “fake news” it can be hard to know what to trust. Even respected news organizations have been guilty of picking up a false story or two. Factcheck.org, maintained by the University of Pennsylvania, is one of the oldest and most reliable fact checking websites. They are most famous for their political coverage but you’ll find fact checks for topics such as, science, health, and rumors.

They do carry the Hutchinson News-Unfortunately not for the years I lived there...and the Stillwater News Press- the next place I lived near enough to have a paper.
I always have been fascinated with the Brown Tree Snake and like to use that for searches. This was interesting because the dogs in the program turned out to be from Oklahoma!
"Brown tree snake program welcomes two new canines." Marianas Variety (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands), sec. Local, 20 Nov. 2017. NewsBank, infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=NewsBank&docref=news/1684AA55E1C3FF48. Accessed 7 May 2018.
"Their transit required an overnight stop in both Hawaii and Guam, so I believe they were just as excited to see us as we were to see them." Ha!
This story is so great!
The database does not carry my hometown paper. :(
I searched for "Winter Soldier" :D and I got
Jackson Item film critic, M. (2018, May 7). 'Infinity War' is a staggering achievement. Huntsville Item, The (TX). Available from NewsBank: http://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=NewsBank&docref=ne....
And it totally was so awesome!
Ah, bummer. Is it a small town in Oklahoma by any chance?
I saw Infinity War this weekend. It was good!
Yep! It's Blanchard, Oklahoma. I would've been shocked if they did have it.
Yeah, we've definitely got a gap in the collection there. Unfortunately, I haven't found a reasonably priced database to fill it (yet).
I wonder how newspapers get added to the this collection?
The Luther Register is a great online paper and should be in there!
Good question.
Essentially, Newsbank (the company we purchase this database from) has to secure the rights to distribute the newspaper in order to add it to the collection. Of course, first they have to decide if it's worth it and, in the case of small towns, it often isn't.
Thanks for linking to the paper!
