Access Services Minutes - August 15, 2017
Outcomes: To discuss migration to CarlConnect for pulling holds, Library Accounts procedures, and CarlX Reports.
Welcome
Risa welcomed the group and reminded attendees to take back information from the meetings to both Access and Engagement staff.
Internet Access Cards
Risa informed the group that in CarlX a Big Red Box will show items as non-circulating if a library member tries to check out with an internet access only card.
CarlConnect
Almonte, Midwest City, and Warr Acres have been testing pulling holds using CarlConnect. They believe any technical difficulties are minor and the process is ready to roll out to more libraries. Del City, Bethany, Northwest, Capitol Hill will begin using CarlConnect to pull holds as soon as staff can be trained. Belle Isle will use a combination of the Excel macro and iPads. Downtown and Ralph Ellison will begin after August 28th. Highlights of what has been learned so far has been added to the Pulling Holds with CarlConnect document on the ASM site.
Library Accounts Procedures
Since the Library Accounts (AL 200) policy went into effect on July 1, the existing accompanying procedures also need to be reviewed now that we have had some time working within the new policy. Laura Sikes (ED), Natalie Currie (BI), Zachary Branstetter (DC), and Risa Sargent (DN) will meet to discuss and provide recommendations to the group before next month’s meeting.
CarlX Reports
Risa presented a document detailing various CarlX reports, including information on how to run them, recommended frequency, and the usefulness of each report.
