First city is Tokyo, Japan! Tonkatsu – Breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet served with rice and a thick, sweet dipping sauce. I am also to partial ramen!
Second city is Johannesburg, South Africa! Summer (October to March) has hot, sunny weather, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Average temperatures range from a low of 11°C (52°F) to a high of 26°C (78°F). The majority of the annual rainfall occurs during summer. My roommate is from there and I would love to visit here and Cape Town.
My favorite National Park is the WWII Valor in the Pacific. It is haunting but very beautiful. When I was there the memorial over the Arizona was covered with cranes.
Oklahoma Parks would have to be the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Every time I drive to Texas it is so pretty!
The first city I chose was Auckland, NZ. Some of their national cuisine include meat pies (savory pies filled with meat, vegetables, herbs, and spices) and for dessert a hokey-pokey, which is actually just toffee! :)
The second city I chose was New York City! Their summer (June to September) weather is hot and humid, with some heavy rain. Average temperatures range from a low of 16°C (60°F) to a high of 28°C (83°F). I liked that under "weather" it gave a prime time to go, which is not summer but Spring and Autumn.
My favorite national park that I have been to is the Badlands! It feels so other-worldly!
My favorite Oklahoma national park is the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Growing up in Ada, OK, my friends and family visited it often. Little Niagara has some good swimming memories for me. :)
Such neat databases for planning trips! Thanks for the highlight.
Two recommendations for the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Sounds like someplace I need to visit!
* Panama City, Panama - Bouillabaisse – Fish soups are popular throughout Latin America, although they typically don’t require as many different types of seafood as the French original.
* Reykjavik, Iceland - Summer (June to August) has average temperatures that range from a low of 7°C (46°F) to a high of 13°C (56°F).
* Albuquerque, New Mexico - I'm just going to mention New Mexico for this question. There are several National Parks, Monuments and Trails, as well as state parks and BLM parks that my family and I have visited several times and have even planned on eventually moving there.
* As far as a National Park in Oklahoma, I would have to agree with the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The drive is not bad, the camping is pretty nice if you get the right area and there are several things to do all within decent driving distance.
I looked for information for Casablanca, Morocco. The national cuisine includes - appetizers such as black olives w/Harissa (which is a spicy North African condiment), salad - Batenjal Zalud (eggplant) and the main dish of Chicken Tajine (a North African stew of of spiced meat and vegetables).
I also researched Chihuahua, Mexico. Summer is the wet season (June to November) which also includes hurricanes.
This database provides a wealth of information from climate, money and banking, potential health risks to security assessments for the listed locations. Travelers would find this database to be very useful.
My favorite national park is the Grand Canyon. My favorite park in Oklahoma is Lake Murray State Park in Ardmore.
I chose Kathmandu, Nepal. Their main dish is dal bhat, a lentil curry served over rice. They have a dessert called sikarni that sounds yummy - a creamy yogurt mixed with various spices.
My second city is Lagos, Nigeria. Since it is located just a smidge north of the equator, it's hot (to me) all of the time. Basically the average low temperature is 72. The first half of their summer is rainy; August and September are dry.
My favorite national park (so far) has been the Grand Teton National Park. I really liked both the Washita Battlefield historic site and the Chickasaw Recreation Area. My favorite city park is the Will Rogers one off of 36th.
The first city I chose is Melbourne, Australia. Their dish is "Vegemite on Toast". It sounds pretty gross but I remember it from an 80's song.
My second city is West Point, NY. The weather there in the summer is "warm to hot" 59-79. I wouldn't consider 79 "hot".
In Oklahoma I would say Trail of Tears. I have been to a few places in a couple of states, along the Trail of Tears, but I liked the Cherokee National Museum in Tahlequah, OK the best.
The national dish of Istanbul (not Constantinople), Turkey is Kuzu Kapama which is a roasted leg of lamb, seasoned with garlic and parsley, and served on a bed of vegetables.
Summer in Shannon, Ireland is warm with nearly half of all days involving some rain. The mean temperature in July is 66.9 degrees Fahrenheit which sounds like a dream to me!
I haven't been to any national parks, but I have been to a few Oklahoma state parks and Robbers Cave is my favorite. We used to have family reunions there with paddle boats and horseback riding and spelunking in the caves. So fun!
Yes, you could get your fall in summertime!
I chose Manila, Philippines. One of their national dishes is Pancit - a dish with Chinese roots, these fried noodles with meat and vegetables are a common quick meal in the Philippines. A common dish at parties, many Filipinos have a tradition of eating Pancit on birthdays because they see eating long noodles as luck for a long life.
Contrary to what one may think of California during the summer, San Francisco can be relatively chilly during the season! From June through September, expect high temperatures to be anywhere from 53 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Consider yourself lucky to be able to see the Golden Gate Bridge during these months, as fog loves to chill around the bridge and at the mouth of the Golden Gate strait.
Note: Locals have even personified the fog in SF! Its name is Karl. See: @KarlTheFog on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/karlthefog/
My favorite national park is Yosemite. The huge granite monoliths of El Capitan and Half Dome are incredible to see in person.
Prague (Czech Republic) - Svícková – A beef tenderloin covered with a creamy sauce of puréed root vegetables.
Vienna (Austria)- Vienna is located in northeastern Austria and has a combination humid continental climate and oceanic climate. This means cold winters with snow, cool to mild springs and autumns, and warm summers. The city experiences light rainfall throughout the year, with a total 607 mm (23.9 in) precipitation annually.
I enjoyed going to Grand Canyon National Park however we were not able to spend much time there. Would love to go back someday.
Oklahoma Park would be Beavers Bend State Park - beautiful part of the state of Oklahoma.
I chose Amsterdam, Netherlands for my country and what do you know - they love potatoes! Me, too. The also eat bread, meat, and fish with smoked eel being a favorite appetizer or snack. What?
The Grand Cayman Island is my second county. Summer is the wet season - May thru October. It is warm and humid with frequent thunderstorms. Note: Hurricanes can occur.
I went with a National Memorial instead of a National Park and I chose the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Memorial here in OKC. Will Rogers is my favorite city park.
