Database Highlight #12: We've got the Language for That

This week’s database highlight goes to Mango Languages, the fun language learning database. Choose from 72 languages. Along with a typical language course, there are specialty courses. Of particular interest is the Spanish for Librarians course which includes Obtaining a Library Card, Help at the Reference Desk, Access Resources, What Activities are Happening at the Library, and Job Search. Don’t forget Little Pim, Mango's children’s version. Whether you’re planning a trip or brushing up on a language, Mango has what you need. Apps available for iOS, Android, and KindleFire.
A fun-infused way to learn a new language. Mango prepares learners for realistic conversations and strengthens everyday communication skills in over 70 world languages, including English. – from the vendor
Duolingo features 26 languages available to learn for free. Lots of schools use Duolingo and, with apps for iOS, Android, and Windows phones, it’s easy to learn on the go.

I tried for Russian, but the alphabet doesn't lend itself to our keyboards. Also, the German lessons have one dedicated to Oktoberfest.

The Translate function works but the phase I wanted to use included slang and it didn't translate to the slang word.
The Russians have a term from cute the is a form of kawaii.

Did you vote for ASL in the labs?
I did! I'm really interested in learning ASL one day.
It looks like ASL is already in Beta on Mango, you just have to enter a password to get into the introductory video. Not sure if you guys were talking about something different, but thought I'd mention it just in case.
