Obituaries are popular reference request. Now you can easily access thousands through America's Obituaries and Death Notices. Attached is a flyer highlighing the database features.

While I had mixed results with this, I do like how many search filters are available. The search by decade feature is nice when assisting those w/o exact death date. I think this will end up being a valuable reference!

It may just be an example of a person who did not have an obituary published. I first searched the first and last name, which yielded a lot of results, then narrowed by decade. When using the same process with the other one (that I knew had a published obit) I was able to find the information quickly and easily. I think it's probably more likely the obituary I didn't find either wasn't published at all, or wasn't in one of the papers that newsbank searches.
Yeah, it could be, especially if it was in a small town newspaper.
