Kristin showed steps on how to access the Outreach Catalog and what it included. She stated if anyone need to order more than 200 books, please call the Outreach Department before ordering.

Why?

Kay discussed our approach to move the needle on the metrics and measure the outcomes. To see positive change and build towards working together as a system to fulfill our Strategic Plan and goals. Kay stated everyone will be involved in this process and we will collaborate together.

Childrens Services Minutes - April 01, 2015

Announcements were made and Kristin welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Sharing

Kristin stated a child development specialist was at the Edmond Library assisting a parent with understanding developmental stages in smaller children and helped the parent to detect developmental delays early on. Kristin then asked those in attendance to share any library stories they may have encountered.

Introductions were made.

Family Place

Jessica Gonzalez (DN) shared information about her recent trip with Kristin Williamson (OUT) to the Family Place Institute. She distributed handouts. Kristin will provide a login for printable resources from the Family Place website. The target of Family Place is babies and toddlers (0-5 years). A discussion was held about toys and family friendly children’s areas. Various staff shared best practices and specific toys (panels, puzzles, blocks) that they have found useful. Two Family Place videos were shown. A MAC request for play signs is in the works.

Summer Reading preview and Q & A time. Reminder for all staff to complete the scenarios posted on MyMetrolibrary. There will be further training and a quiz for all staff. The scenarios help us work out any glitches and help provide a deeper level of understanding for the new software.

Children's Services Meeting Minutes for February 2014

Kristin created a display of some of the award winning books (Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Belpré, Geisel, & Seibert awards) for librarians to look at and check out as they wanted. Kristin is starting to plan for Fall 1-2-3 Play With Me and passed a sign-up sheet for librarians to choose when they would like to have it at their library. For those who did not commit dates at the meeting can let Kristin know their dates by the end of February. The City County Health Department has resource professionals in Child Guidance available for a fee and Nutritionists which are free.

Call to order

Summer Reading wrap up info. All librarians took a SR survey. Some things discussed included:
• Some librarians feel overwhelmed with the timeline and sign up for volunteers.
• Teens volunteer duties may change next summer with the switch to online SR.
• January letters will go out to those the librarians want to “re-hire”. March recruitment for new volunteers begins. May shirts will start to arrive for your volunteers.

Trip Around the World will continue though 2014

Students receive a passport in hopes they will travel to different library locations.

Production Theater will present A Mid Summer Nights Dream in February, March and April

There will be three workshops. One for Children, Teens and Adults
ED and RE will present the Children’s Workshops
The Theater will be present in your library location all day long. The work shop starts at 11:00am and the performance is at 2:00pm

Children's Services Meeting Minutes for October 2009

Welcome and Announcements:
Everyone has been invited by the Pioneer Library System to attend the NSK Neustadt Prize for Children’s Literature Award with Vera B. Williams and Virginia Euwer Wolf at the Sam Noble Natural History Museum on Thursday, October 22, 2009 @ 2pm.

Lisa handed out the indie booksellers book recommendation list asked the librarians to put them in the library for customers to use. She also passed around a plaque given to the library from the OKC Junior League in recognition for Trip Around the World.
