OUR WORLD SERIES:
The Group discussed the turnouts and reviews of the three programs:
- Harmonia: Positive Reviews. Everyone seems to enjoy.
- Brad Rictor: ED & MC both commented that they enjoyed him.
- Johnny Appleseed: Turnouts have been low. Perhaps because there was confusion as to whom this program is geared toward. Children were primarily targeted. Perhaps due to less marketing? It was then discussed that perhaps we could have someone from the MAC dept. at the retreat. Anita will look into it. Anita emphasized that we cannot depend on the magazine to do all of our publicity for us. Anita mentioned that we could keep a sign-up sheet and do mailings of future programs.
Oklahoma reads Oklahoma:
Anita asked if any of the librarians were going to have any book discussions on the books on the list or the winner? Ann and Darrie indicated they would be having these. There is some talk about the winning author speaking at a few libraries.
Debbie Baxter
Local author of a romance novel, Dancing Alone. She wants to have a talk on the book and sell books afterwards. Susie has a press kit and will make copies for the others.
Living a Healthy Life Workshop (living with a chronic illness):
- VI had a turnout of 8-10 people. A VI circ. Clerk attended and said that it was more of a support group for people with chronic illnesses than an informational class.
- SO had to cancel their session after a couple of times due to low attendance. Darrie would like to have a mini-session as opposed to the 6 weeks, but the city-county said they couldn’t do that. Sharon N. mentioned that Integris does off mini-sessions on this topic.
- BI said that there attendance was under 10, but was well received.
Metro Tech Classes:
Attendance is down and the Metro Tech Coordinator is a bit disturbed. Anita said that most of our programming attendance usually dips lower in the winter months. ED had problems with booking rooms for it. It was agreed to keep the listings in the Metro. Magazine, but the description needs to be uniform.
New Meeting Room Manager Program:
- Not all the programmer’s are trained yet.
- Some of the programmers attended the recent meeting over the database. They stated that changes are still being made and addressed.

- CT will be moving in Jan. Opening Jan. 20th and having a grand opening on Feb. 11th.

- Anita handed out a Discoveries handout, OU Speakers service and the programmers list for all branches.
- Anita said that she is now in charge of Banned Books week and if we want some materials for our library they are on the ALA website. Let Anita know ahead of time what book themes each month you want to celebrate so she can obtain the appropriate materials.
