2) Learn about the new programming approach
3) Share and learn from each other
Summer Reading Training – 1:30 pm
New Programming Approach – 2:38 pm
LaVetta asked who had read Kay’s Themed Programming post, all hands were raised so she asked what questions each person had and started a discussion, to get their questions answered.
Why? To move the needle on the metrics and measure the outcomes and see positive change. To build towards working together as a system to fulfill our Strategic Plan and goals. Everyone will be involved in this process and we will collaborate together.
A new program catalog will be built from our collaborative efforts, and look similar to our Outreach Supply Catalog. Staff members will have the option to go into the catalog and choose from a list of options.
How will this benefit us?
It will provide an avenue for all staff to work together towards common goals to plan and deliver the most effective programming.
To promote library experiences, provide outreach in our communities, reduce costs of programs per person, share wealth of creativity, talent, and resources.
The whole idea is to narrow the focus during different times of the year with a themed approach, to try and find what works to move the needle and adjust and improve our efforts towards reaching our goals, the M & M’s.
LaVetta was asked about the fifth dimension and she said it is an option that may be added at the library level, if there is a dimension of the theme, which is not part of the dimensions selected for system-wide usage, a library can choose a “5th dimension.” Choosing a 5th dimension is not a requirement, but another option available.
Clarification was requested about book clubs being included in the theme. Outreach answered that many themes will have book club options available in the program catalog, but that our regular customer-led book clubs don't necessarily need to be part of the theme.
LaVetta mentioned that as Outreach works with presenters to ensure they are available for however many presentations are requested by the libraries, we may need to be flexible with the dates for some themes.
Sharing – 3:15 pm
