OES Updates
LitFest – month-long program series wrapped up yesterday, thank you to all who planned events and coordinated efforts
Hispanic/Latinx Heritages Month – reach out to Kristin with questions
Vaccine clinics – health officials want to reach 18-35yo and are looking into positivity rates near libraries to determine placement, clinics 2-3 hours each, vaccine process is 20 minutes per person, Jessica will schedule with library managers
CityCare’s Pershing Center – Kimberly, DOES did a site visit to this adult facility, they serve long-term residents (6 months- several years), on-site library being planned, programming possibilities, overview of On-Site Libraries and Books by Mail
Summer Reading Wrap-Up
What went well – one prize and one level was easy and less confusing with staff and customers, tote prizes, adult titles were popular, book prize room, instruction sheets for Beanstack helped
What didn’t go well – several people were disappointed by delayed prize pickup (especially parents and kids), not everyone will remember to come back, not as much promotion or momentum because volunteers weren’t present and we didn’t have in-person indoor programs, pandemic sapped the excitement, people used paper forms but didn’t sign up online, confusion logging between 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and SR – need Beanstack to improve, lots of left-over kits
Ideas for next year – training or communication specifically about how staff can sign up and log retroactively, find ways to engage teens differently if they can’t be in the library, tickets/additional entries into big prize drawings if customers read beyond 600 minutes
