Wild About Reading-Summer Reading Postcards!

Print

Today EPS staffers and members of the Summer Reading Subcommittees filled 288 boxes with 6,049 packets of Summer Reading postcards…that’s approximately 151,225 postcards! These postcards will be mailed out to all of the K-12 schools (including private and charter schools) in OK County over the upcoming week. All schools should receive their boxes of postcards by mid-April.

Special thanks to Erin Bedford (PSA), Katherine Hickey (BI), Kelley Riha (OUT), Chris Stofel (CH), Abigail Stout (DN), and Vicki Thompson (PLA) for helping to box postcards today!

If staff at your library have not already reached out to schools in your service area to let them know that postcards are soon to arrive, now is the time to make those calls!

Make sure to reference our Community & School Engagement Toolkit (updated as of 4/5/19) for a helpful timeline, best practices, templates, scripts, and other resources/supplies you will need when engaging with schools in your service area and organizations in your local community. Katherine Hickey and Daniel Chesney, both members of the School and Community Engagement Summer Reading Subcommittee, made a fun video to tell you more about this year's toolkit, so make sure to tune in when you have a chance!

Please note that every library will want to make sure and track their Summer Reading school and outreach visits on this year’s Community Visit Log, available on page 4 of the Community & School Engagement Toolkit or on the SR Downloads page.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to EPS ([email protected]).
