Summer Reading Training goes live on April 1st!

Summer Reading Training goes live on April 1st!!!
Why do we do Summer Reading? We do it so that you, the staff, have the necessary tools and information to help customers. Ultimately, training will prepare us to reach our summer reading goals. This year Summer Reading training will consist of an online component for all staff members and a more extensive face to face training for new staff, Access Managers, and Engagement Managers.
Online Summer Reading training is required for all staff and is self-guided. All components of Summer Reading Training must be completed by May 1, 2019.
While department staff may not be assisting library customers with summer reading questions directly, it is important that all staff are knowledgeable about Summer Reading. As a Metro Library employee, you act as an ambassador to the community. If a friend or neighbor asks you about summer reading, we want you to have the information to answer that question with confidence. Your assistance helps us ensure a successful program for our community.
Additionally, in order to receive state funding (under Title 405. Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Chapter 25.State Aid Grants to Public Libraries), all staff must complete one continuing education credit a year that is not safety training. Metro uses Summer Reading training to fulfill that requirement.
Summer Reading training for all staff will include:
- The Summer Reading training video.
- Tasks to complete in Beanstack to learn and/or review how to sign up, track reading, claim prizes, and more.
- The Summer Reading 2019 acknowledgement.
In addition to the all staff training, a more extensive Face to Face Summer Reading training will be required for Engagement Managers, Access Managers, and new staff hired since June 30, 2018. New ASI’s are strongly encouraged, but not required to attend the face to face training. Access Managers and Engagement Managers will act as subject matter experts for their libraries. Staff who would like to attend the face to face training, but are not required, may sign up after March 22 by logging into EduBrite. Staff who are required to attend the face to face training should have already received notification from EduBrite to start signing up!
The face to face training will be offered on the following dates:
- April 9- NW 10-12, 1:30-3:30
- April 13 - CH 10-12 (Saturday)
- April 18 - MC 10-12, 1:30-3:30
- April 23 - CH 10-12
- April 24 - BI 5:15 - 7:00
